What is MMA Flooring?
MMA flooring is short for methyl methacrylate flooring. It is a high-performance resin flooring system designed for industrial and commercial applications that demand rapid curing, durability, and extreme temperature tolerance. It’s a fast-curing, solvent-based acrylic resin system activated by a peroxide catalyst, which allows it to cure in as little as 2 to 3 hours, even at sub-zero temperatures.
MMA resin flooring is ideal for industries where downtime must be minimal, hygiene is critical, and surfaces are exposed to cold or chemical environments. Due to its curing properties, MMA floor coatings are widely used in cold stores, food manufacturing facilities, and commercial kitchens, because they can be installed overnight and be ready for service the next day.
It’s worth noting that MMA floor coating systems emit a strong odour during installation. For food production environments, the floor must be installed well in advance of operations to avoid tainting food products due to airborne vapours.
Ultra-Fast Curing
Fully cured within 2 to 3 hours
Low-Temperature Application
Installs and cures in cold stores and freezers down to -25 °C
Chemical Resistance
Resistant to a wide range of chemicals, oils, and acids

Durability
High mechanical strength suitable for heavy footfall, machinery, and vehicles
Slip Resistance
Textured finishes are available for increased safety in wet or oily environments

UV Stability
Retains colour and performance under UV exposure

I have questions…
The primary difference between epoxy and MMA lies in the curing time and temperature tolerance of the resins. MMA floor coatings cure significantly faster (within 2–3 hours) and can be applied in cold environments, whereas epoxy requires warmer conditions and takes a much longer time to cure, up to several days.
MMA stands for methyl methacrylate, which is the main resin component in this flooring system. It’s a type of acrylic resin known for its rapid cure and performance in challenging environments.
Costs vary based on the size of the area, the condition of the substrate, and the specific performance requirements. For a tailored quote, get in touch with the team today.
