What is an Epoxy Flake System?
An Epoxy High Build Coating is a two-component, solvent-free resin system engineered to provide a thick, protective layer over concrete substrates. Unlike standard epoxy coatings, this formulation is applied at a higher film build, typically between 300 and 500 microns per coat, offering superior resistance to chemicals, abrasion, and mechanical impact.
In an epoxy flake flooring system, this coating forms the essential base layer. Once applied, decorative flakes are broadcast into the wet resin to enhance the surface appearance and provide a light texture. The result is a durable, attractive floor suitable for demanding industrial and institutional environments.

I have questions…
With proper preparation and maintenance, flake epoxy flooring can last between 8 and 15 years in commercial settings and longer in lighter-duty applications. Longevity depends on traffic levels, chemical exposure, and maintenance routines.
An epoxy flake system refers to a complete system that includes a base epoxy coating, flake broadcast, and topcoat, forming a cohesive, sealed surface.
Differently, decorative broadcasting refers specifically to the process of applying flakes or aggregates into the wet epoxy. It may be part of various systems, but it does not necessarily imply a complete, sealed solution. In short, the epoxy flake system is a fully integrated flooring build-up, while decorative broadcasting is just one stage of the process.
