Manufacturing Facility Floor Renovation

The brief
A client in the industrial sector faced significant flooring issues in a high-traffic manufacturing facility floor. The existing ceramic tiles were de-bonding due to a compromised subscreed and the impact of heavy loads over time. The client required a long-term solution that would provide a hard-wearing, durable, and level surface to withstand the operational demands of their facility.
The solution
After assessing the condition of the floor, we recommended Sika Ucrete UD 200, a high-performance polyurethane resin flooring system designed for extreme industrial environments. The installation process included:
Tile Removal & Surface Preparation
The damaged ceramic tiles were removed, exposing the uneven subscreed.
The underlying floor was inspected to determine the level adjustments required.
Floor Smoothing & Drainage Reformation
To correct the floor levels, we applied Sika Ucrete UL, a rapid-curing underlayment that provided a smooth and even base.
Drainage areas were reformed and adjusted to ensure proper functionality and flow.
Application of Sika Ucrete UD 200
The heavy-duty polyurethane flooring system was installed, providing a seamless, chemical-resistant, and slip-resistant surface.
The finish met the client’s requirements for durability, hygiene, and resistance to steam cleaning.
The result
Outcome: The installation of Sika Ucrete UD 200 delivered a hard-wearing and durable flooring system designed to withstand extreme mechanical and chemical exposure, ensuring long-term performance. The slip-resistant surface provided enhanced safety in both wet and dry conditions, reducing the risk of accidents. Its seamless, non-porous finish made it hygienic and easy to clean, allowing for effective industrial cleaning processes, including steam cleaning. Additionally, the floor was fully leveled, eliminating trip hazards and ensuring stable load distribution, creating a safer and more efficient working environment.
Conclusion:The successful installation of Sika Ucrete UD 200 transformed the client’s production area, providing a high-performance, long-lasting flooring solution tailored for heavy industrial use. With its exceptional durability, chemical resistance, and hygiene benefits, the new floor met and exceeded the client’s expectations, ensuring a safer and more efficient workspace.
